               Taiwan suffers loss of lives and properties beyond estimation due to the threat of typhoon each year. It also causes negative impacts on the society and the economy. According to the Central Weather Bureau, 408 typhoons in total, 3.57 typhoons per year on average, had struck Taiwan since 1898 to 2010.
